New Route to Rwanda…

I have had to plot a new route to Rwanda, and load it up into the GPS. From Dar, I have to back track to Chilinze, and then head due north for Moshi and Arusha… I will then cross the border into Kenya on Thursday or Friday, and drop off as much kit as I dare at the Jungle Junction, before heading for Uganda and Rwanda…

Once I get to Kigali, I will check on the security situation in Burundi, and if things have stabilized there, I might make a day long run to Bujumbura for lunch…. I believe the “smashed chicken” and chips are to die for…!!

The capital city of Burundi lies at the extreme northern end of Lake Tanganyika, and it has a very healthy population of hippo, that apparently wanders about in the city at night… Another excellent reason for not riding your motorcycle at night in Africa…

Here is my new route from Dodoma to Kigali, via Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi…

Eish…. 🙂 Someone on the Wilddog forum mentioned this awesome journey. I have start to read from the beginning where you prepared for the trip in SA up to now. I took me a few days to catchup and now I can not wait for the next chapter….. Wish you all the best and I hope God will keep you safe.

  • Welcome Brandt !! Enjoy the ride….!! R.

Hi Ronnie, I met you at Ray’s last year when you were planning your trip. I am impressed and enjoy the detailed account of your daily activities, you write well. I made it to Dar last year so I read with great interest your blog , as you progress north. Remember as you sit up till 2am in the morning recording your adventure, there are people down here who appreciate every word and picture you stop to take. Be safe. Denzil Bagley
