Locked and Loaded… Finally !!

It has been great to spend a final few days with my folks and Charmaine, and despite the fact that I had hoped it would be a restful few days, it has been anything but that…

I have packed and repacked, been jabbed with needles, interviewed by the local Herald newspaper, rushed around getting a little glitch on my laptop sorted, downloaded 16 gigs of music from my I-pod to my Garmin, sorted through the burgeoning inbox of my email, updated my website…and eaten far too much while doing all of the above…

My Family... Photos laminated and stuck to the inside of my Top Box, where I will see them every evening when I haul out my Kitbag...

I leave here tomorrow, heading for East London, where I will spend the night with Jock, a biker mate of a mate, and meet with a German biker / photographer, who has recently completed a run to Germany on his own 1200… On Saturday, Jock and I will then ride the back roads to Port Elizabeth, where Rob “The Carnivore” Gush will host us both for the night. On Sunday (depending what time I get to bed on Saturday night !) I will attempt to make the long dash for Struisbaai and Aghulas – the Southern most tip of our Continent… If I get too late a start, I might hang up my boots for the night in Mossel Bay…

Once I get to Cape Aghulas,  I will hang a right, and aim for Cairo, taking in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, The Sudan and Egypt itself, of course…!!

But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, shall we ?? There’s many rivers to cross before we get there….
