In February 2009, I accepted a postion as Managing Director of Scanstyle Mim, a manufacturer of Outdoor Furniture from Indigenous Hardwoods, situated in the Brong Ahofu Provinces in Western Ghana.
I kept in touch with friends and family, by sending regular emails to them, to keep them informed of what I was doing, and what I was getting up to. My two year contract was cut short after 8 months, when it was decided to consolidate the Holding company which owned Scanstyle, and Scanstyle was wound down in preparation for sale.
I nevertheless enjoyed the time I spent there, even though working through the closure was a stressful and demanding exercise. In between bouts of Malaria, I managed to wrap up operations in a structured and organised manner, and am able to add my experiences there to my “Adventures in Life” catalogue….
