One of the “Things to Do” while in Marmaris, is to take a seven hour cruise around the Bay…
Choosing a boat to go out on a cruise with was a difficult decision... Although I voted for this one, which had sleek lines and seemed very sea-worthy, Debbie's "Yeah, right...!" seemed to carry more weight, and we ended up on some other boat... Apparently she is a great fan of something called "subtle advertising", which I clearly know nothing about..!!
We slipped our moorings and headed out into the bay...
It is one of the few “value for money” excursions still available down here…!! For R125.00, you get to spend most of the day out on the water, stopping to feed fish along the way; (if you have “GONE BIG” the night before your outing, you will not have to wait for the crew to throw bread into the water…!!); sailing into the mouth of one of a series of Phosphorus Caves along the shoreline; stopping for a few swimming breaks in secluded bays; have a reasonably good lunch before berthing at the village of Turunc, where everyday is “Market Day”, and finally sailing back to Marmaris just as the sun is setting over the town…

All in all, it is a great day out, as we discovered…
After feeding the fish in the shallows of Paradise Island, we passed by this sleepy little village...
At our first swimming stop, the GB pondered his next move... Should it be a swallow dive off the prow, or a somersault off the stern...??
Proving the age old axim... "White Men Can Jump"...!! It was at this exact point that my brain shouted, "What the hell do you think you are doing...?" This distraction prevented me from entering the water in the elegant fashion I had originally intended... With a loud cry of "VOLTAREN", I hit the water with a splash that was heard on the mainland...
The judges were unanimous...!! There is still life in the old dog...!!
The Mermaid made me do it, Doctor...!!
After all that, shouts of "He lives...!! He lives...!!" reverberated off the cliffs...
"Now listen, you silly man...!! Don't go diving or jumping off the boat again...!!" A stern warning for which there can be but one reply... "Yes, Dear...!!"
Motorboats take tourists right into the mouth of the Phosphorus Cave...
Not to be outdone, our skipper got us up close and personal as well...
And more swimming in the crystal clear waters of Marmaris Bay...
Then there was lunch, which included pasta, so it had to be good...!!
Late afternoon saw us tie up in the village of Turunc, where we wandered through the market stalls and met with a few "locals"...
While I (as usual) attracted one of the local mongrels...
...Debbie managed a more meaningful conversation with this young Turk...!!
We arrived back in the Marmaris just in time to catch the last rays of the setting sun...
"Er.. Excuse me guys... Have you seen the GB anywhere...?? He boarded a boat this morning and left me here to bake in the sun...!!"

Thanks for sharing Marmaris with us. It is a beautiful place to be. No need for you to be doing funny tricks GB; have you forgotten that you still have 2 years of riding/travelling to do. You don’t want to land up in hospital do you.
