More sights from Bali…

In between many of the outings I have enjoyed with either Patti, Mikaela or other folk I have met here in Bali, I have been out and about on my own, riding the Big Fella down to Denpasar on occasion, or just tootling around the Ubud area, visiting villages and seeing a few sights that I have captured on camera and video…

While I am wrapping my head around the events of the last ten days, I thought I’d share some of those photos and their explanation with you…

The ten days I speak of have been particularly hectic to say the least…!!

They include climbing the Batur Volcano last Saturday, then flying to Java to visit the Borobudur Temple on Sunday and Monday, then checking into hospital with Patti on Tuesday for what was meant to be a short three day stay, that eventually turned into a more complicated six day event…!! More on those soon…!!

We arrived home yesterday and I am delighted to report that Patti is in good health and recovering well, albeit with a few grumbles about not being able to get back into her yoga and Pilates routines for the next week or two…!! Hardly surprising after four hours of abdominal surgery…!!

Here’s more on Bali…

Reflections in the rice paddies....

Flocks of ducks fertilize the paddies before the next crop of rice is planted...

A huge ceremony was taking place on Legian Beach while we waited to begin our surf lessons... Accompanied by a small group of musicians, the exuberant crowd strolled along the beachfront and made for a nearby temple...

Mikaela and Patti relax at Potatohead in Seminyak...

Attention is drawn to turtle conservation on Kuta Beach...

Sunset at Legian... We sat sipping wine, while marveling at the changing colours in the evening sky...

Beautiful sunsets are always made even better when shared with beautiful company...!!

Door to door hat and bowl salesman... The conical straw hats are mostly used by farmers and labourers...

I met this South African couple in Seminyak... He had grown up in Durban and recognized the number plate on the bike... They were more than chuffed to see someone from their old home town, and I enjoyed chatting to people with the same accent...!!

Shopkeepers scrambled to protect their premises when flooding occurred after three days of heavy rain...

The path that winds between the rice paddies on the Campuhan Ridge. We often took late afternoon walks here...

The objects of Sadie's desire...!! In recent times, she has sent a number of them to the "Great Chicken Coop in the Sky", much to the annoyance of the farmer who no longer greets us with a smile...!!

A small homestead among the rice paddies...

Getting all my "ducks in a row" here in Bali, has not been easy...!!

Panjurs line this narrow lane in Ubud... After the holiday celebrations, they are taken down and sometimes used again the following year...

Couldn't have said it better myself...!!

Takeaways in Bali are sometimes delivered wrapped in banana leaves...!! Easy to see which one is mine...!! Brown rice just doesn't row my boat...

The guy who designed this home either had stopped taking his medication, or needed to begin taking something a lot stronger...!!

After discovering that the battery on my bike had died, I was taken to the workshop run by the secretary of the local bikers club...

In the spirit of the Brotherhood of Bikers, Made charged my battery and refused to accept any payment from me, except to insist that I bring the Big Fella around to show him and his friends what the big touring bike looked like...!! Thank you once again, Made...!!

"Sadie, you have to learn to get the marrow out of these bones by yourself now...!!"

Ran into these two BMW enthusiasts while down on the beach...

Wow I can see why people go to Bali for their vacation. Thanks for sharing these photo’s with us. You are looking very well GB, Patti is keeping you slim and trim, keep it up!
Patti take it easy, abdominal surgery takes more than a week or two to heal. No stretching, no pilates or yoga for you!
