Christmas Greetings to All…!!
As this is a very serious time of year, I thought it best to share this post with you, in an effort to remind all my Australian friends about the hazards facing them at this time of year…
A recent study made by the Australian Department of Transport has ascertained that 23% of all traffic accidents are alcohol related… That means that the remaining 77% of accidents are caused by people who drink bottled water, sodas, fruit juices, energy drinks, and such like…
Out of concern for your, and indeed, all my friend’s safety, I just thought I’d share that one with you… So keep a sharp eye out for those who do not drink any form of alcohol…!! They’re a dangerous lot, I tell you…!!
Furthermore, having watched the attached video clip below, I am exceedingly happy that I have managed to evade the Christmas Kangaroo, and am enjoying my Christmas from the safety of Auckland in New Zealand…!! Where we only have the “Christmas Sheep” to deal with… But this is New Zealand after all, where men are men, and most sheep remain in a constant state of nervousness…!!

Hey Ronnie,
I started reading your story earlier this year when I came accross your site after surfing the net about bike stuff. I’ve just got back into biking after a 25 year absence….you see, and got myself one of those little F650GS’…more so for commuting. I am a South African currently living and working in Scotland…and the bike is a handy mode of travel here…what with all the traffic and parking hassles!
Anyway…I enjoy reading about your travels and hopefully one day I will be able to undertake a journey similar to yours. With regards to meeting and making friends from around the globe…I can in someways relate to, as I’ve worked on UN missions in other parts of the world which led to me to meet and keep in contact with some incredible and generous people.
In terms of biking, I am enjoying every moment being on it, and have clocked up some significant mileage riding around the UK in the 18 months since getting the bike. Hopefully once I’ve acquired a more worthy travel document (still using my SA Passport)…I’ll be able to venture out of the UK.
Keep up the good writing and all the best to you and the Big Fella on your travels still to come!
