Getting to Grafton…

After a nightmare experience with Sydney’s early morning rush hour traffic, I managed to get the Big Fella up close and personal, to the Sydney Opera House…!! This took some doing, as the area is closed off for renovations….

A bit of sweet talking got me past the security and although it was not the “iconic shot” I would have have liked, the photo will show, without doubt, that the Gypsy Biker and his faithful steed DID make it to Sydney….!!

Made it to that place where they sing the high notes....!!

Sydney Harbour Bridge from the Opera House.... A beauty....!!

One more then I better go...!!

I then rode over that large piece of steel known as “The Place where the Fireworks Explode to Herald the Start of Every New Year”…. Some kind of bridge, I think it was….!!

Crossing the bridge in rush hour traffic... Needed this like a hole in the head...!!

It's that extra 10 km that makes all the difference apparently...!!

My third long day in a row on the road was nearing its end... Grafton not too far off...!!

Then headed north and out of the city, becoming personally acquainted with the 927 traffic lights (give or take a dozen) that I had to negotiate before I hit the Pacific Freeway….

Hundreds of kilometres, two fuel stops and eight hours later, I arrived in the town of Grafton, where I was met by Neil and Penny Burgess, old friends with whom I worked in Swaziland, more than ten years ago…!!

It was great to see them again, share a meal and a few beers with, and later meet their now much grown up daughters, Michaela and Chloe…

Coff's Harbour, with its inherent bronchial problems, lies on the Banana Coast...

The Burgess Girls... Micaela, Penny and Chloe... It had been almost ten years since we last saw each other...!!

The Big Fella takes up a lot of space as usual...!!

The Burgess home in Riverview Heights, Grafton... Lots of room to roam...!!

A full days rest tomorrow before I head north again, to Chevron Island, and then on to Brisbane…

It’s all a bit of a blur right now…!!
