This morning I received the sad news that Jessie, the dog I left behind in my parent’s care, had passed away…
I had known she was getting older and weaker, and had hoped that I would see her one last time on my trip back home in just a weeks time, but that was not to be…
Up until just a few weeks ago, she was still chasing Vervet Monkeys off my parents property, and scaring the blazes out of anybody who was silly enough to walk too close to the gates…!!

Jessie was actually Roxanne’s dog, and I will always associate her with helping my daughter understand the responsibility of having a pet… I was proud of how well Roxanne looked after her dog, and how Jessie responded to this with love and devotion to not only Roxanne, but all of us…
She was not only fiercely loyal, but especially affectionate too, and spent the last four years of her life with my parents. I am very thankful to Jessie for the way in which she enriched their lives and quickly became a part of their “family”…
I am also very thankful that my parents were able to take such good care of the what was one of the best dogs I ever had the privilege to own…

She had a great life with you guys, and an even better retirement with Mom and Dad. Sorry that you just missed saying goodbye in person. She could wait no longer…God knows she tried. Take care, you have a new life to look forward too very very soon as in 3 days time!!!
