Ah….there you are…!!
Where the heck have you all been…?? Running out on me like that…?? Ha…!!
It’s been a very busy week, and I now have a few days to document, or rather “picture post” what we have been up to over the past week or so…
There was a visit by the girl from whom I had been apart from for almost three months…
There were walks on the sugar-white beaches of the Riviera Maya; swims in the stunning blue of the Caribbean; a fast outride in the pouring rain aboard the ever eager Big Fella; snorkelling in a few of the hundreds of “canotes” or sink holes that litter the Yucatan; a trip to the ruins in Tulum, about 70 km back down the coast I had ridden up last week; lots of shopping excursions; and of course, there was yoga…!!
There was a visit to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza, infinitely more interesting than my visit to Tikal in Guatemala had been…
This was in a large part due to the fact that I was with Patricia and not clambering around on my own…!!
There were a large number of outings with friends we had met, and of course my biker brother, Roberto Martinez, who has been an amazing host…
I am in the process of editing the hundreds of photos we took and have posted a number of them below…
Some without permission, which I might cop and earful for later…!!

The Alhambra Hotel, right on the beachfront in Playa del Carmen, would be our base for the next week...

Even the Big Fella managed to have a thrilling moment....!! I heard him humming the tune, "Ain't she sweet, ...see her lying on my seat..."

There was snorkeling in Dos Ojos, a beautiful system of underground caves, where the visibility was excellent...

We shared a plate of freshly caught and prepared Dorado with Roberto and his captain... Delicious...!! (The fish, not the captain...!!)

And wherever I am, there is bound to be some "horsing about" as well...!! "You know that little prick you got this morning...?? Well, I lied...!! It wasn't vitamins...!! We're going racing, Baby...!!"

I have no idea how so many empty Margaritas came to be standing in front of me...!! Roberto had something to do with it....!! That and the "buy one get one free" night...!!

We managed to spent a quiet moment in the first church that was ever built in Playa del Carmen... A small and simple sanctuary, right on the beach...

The Kukulkan Pyramid at Chichen Itza... Also known as the Feathered Snake Pyramid.... While not as tall as those at Tikal, this impressive pyramid has been beautifully restored...

And we were there together...!! First the Temples of Java and Bali, and now the wonders of the Ancient Mayan City of Chichen Itza....

The ancient Observatory at Chichen Itza... The Mayans were expert astronomers and mapped the constelations with remarkable accuracy, without the use of telescopes, I might add...!!

After a hot day out in the sun, we were ready for the bustrip back to Playa... One of us had been getting far too much sun lately, and was being mistaken for a Mexican....!!

Patricia and I enjoyed a number of Skinny Bikini's Potatoes, and introduced Roberto to them as well...!!

Lawrence Lasarow, an ex-South African now based in Playa, owns a large lobster exporting business and started Skinny Bikini as something to keep him occupied in the evenings...!! You've gor your hands full, my China...!!

This confused dove landed on Patti's head, fluffed out it's feathers, and promptly went to sleep...!!

We enjoyed our last sun-downers together, on the beach outside our hotel... (Complete with feathered friend....!!)
After a wonderful and truly memorable week spent with Patricia, who has now returned to the other side of the Caribbean, I have to turn my mind to another rather pressing matter…!!
The above is a route I planned a few weeks ago, but since then I have taken much advise from a few of my Mexican mates and have altered the ride through this country significantly…
I will be hoisting myself and the Big Fella up over the high mountains and down to the Pacific Coast, and riding a few ‘Twisties” that are apparently a “must”…!!
Later Caballeros…
GB, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Welcome back GB. Look forward to riding with you to Prudhoe Bay
Great to read this post. I am so happy that God has chosen an upbeat and fun-loving lady to be your wife. Patricia will keep you young and light-hearted – just what you need as a balance. Enjoy the final chapter of this adventure… and in the words of a very wise leader … “THE BEST IS STILL TO COME”!
