To Phnom Penh…

With Cambodia now under our belts, my left hand panel runneth over...!!

Sign at the Mekong Sunrise Hotel... I was bitterly disappointed, as my Flip-Flops were looking a bit ropey, and I had my eye on a much better pair...!!

We left the Mekong Sunrise Hotel at about 8.00am, having made arrangements with Morgan to meet and ride with us to Phnom Penh…

This was the first time he would be riding with other bikers on his 10 country expedition, and seemed to be looking forward to it…

His film crew had flown back to Hong Kong, and were due to meet him in Siem Reap and Angkor Wat on the 7th of April, so he had a few days to kill, and what better way to spend it than with us…!!

Or we thought so anyway…!!

GS departure from Kampong Cham... The Three GS-kateers head for Phnom Penh...

We headed west towards Skun, then turned south, passing through the small town of Ta Poy and shortly afterward rejoined the Mekong, following it to the northern limits of the city… It was a good ride, our three bikes zooming across the Cambodian countryside, scattering cars and scooters alike…

We made quite a sight, and drew admiring and often, open-mouthed stares from the local populace…

We stopped on a few occasions so that Morgan could shoot some video clips for his website, but for the most part we made very good time and were soon winding our way through the busy streets of downtown Phnom Penh, looking for the Golden House Hotel…

Crossing the Mekong again, this time into the Capital Phnom Penh...

Milan's young daughter took a shine to us and brought us some snacks...

Outside the Royal Palace, these two kids were soaking each other with a hose...

The hotel was situated in what Morgan later referred to as “Hooker Central”, which made our short walks to the local eating establishments an interesting exercise…

We did our best to point out the differences between “Lady-Boys” and the genuine article to Chenty, who had by now taken to traveling with three guys in her stride…

It got more and more difficult to “shock” her as time wore on, and we eventually gave up and tried to behave ourselves…

A difficult thing to do when there was so much to make naughty comments about…!!

Milan, the owner of the hotel, was extremely helpful, and arranged transport to ferry us around town, and also sent our passports away to get our Vietnamese visas… Everything we wanted or needed was achieved without any fuss… It was a good place to be based…!!

Morgan and Chenty on our tour around town...

Trev and I share another joke at somebody else's expense...!! Boys will be....well, Boys...!!

We spent our first afternoon on a Tuk-Tuk tour of the town, and made plans for a day trip which would include the various highlights in this part of the country…

Scooters are put to a 1000 and 1 uses here... This one was hooked up to a trailer and delivering firewood...!!

Trevor is a firm believer in the old adage that "A bird cannot fly on one wing..."...!!
