Going like a Boeing….!!

I have covered a little over 2000 km since leaving Playa on Monday morning….

I have visited the most amazing Mayan Ruins at Palenque…

The Temple of Inscriptions and the tomb of Pacal the Great....

Climbed up to the Temples to see the carving etched there....

...and had the usual "I was there" shot taken by a Japanese tourist....

I then made a 13 hour ride up over the mountains, from Palenque down to the Pacific coast at Huatulco…

On the ride into the mountains, I noted that a cloudy reception awaited me...

Had a few skating lessons on a fast deteriorating rear tyre....

...and then raced the sun to the Pacific and lost by a whisker....

Today, I rode back over the mountains on “Roberto’s Road”… I am not sure what I did to offend him, to make him send me on this route, but it must have been bad…very bad…!!

It took almost five hours to cover the 250 km section over three mountain ranges, from Puerto Escandido to Oaxaca… Before that, the 160 km from Huatulco to Escandido had been a breeze…!! But not for the turkey that stepped out in from of me as I came around a long sweeping bend… Some of its feathers are still on the breeze I mentioned…

I'm sure it will be lovely when it's all paved....!!

Not a good spot to run out of fuel.... I had to stand looking at this muddy section while I emptied my spare fuel bottles into the tank... "Be still, my beating heart...!!"

Nice one, Roberto...!! I owe you, Buddy....!! BIG time...!!

And after all that, I figured a “rest day” was called for…!!

And after the hammering the Big Fella has taken, perhaps a bit of TLC for him too…

A few nail-biting curves along Roberto’s Road, but all sounds like fun. Hope your tyre holds up. Do you have news on a new set soon ?
